Ian Hall

UK Public Affairs Director

EurActiv

Ian Hall, 34, is EurActiv’s UK-based Public Affairs Director, having joined the pan-European online media and policy network in November 2011.

He joined EurActiv from the role of Editor of Public Affairs News, the Westminster-based monthly magazine for the public affairs sector. In this capacity he chaired the UK industry’s awards programme from 2008-2011 and also judged the European Public Affairs Awards. He was shortlisted for Editor of the Year at the prestigious British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) Awards in 2010.

Ian joined Public Affairs News in March 2007 and oversaw the re-launch of the monthly print edition six months later. He chaired a fringe debate at the 2008 Labour Party conference on the future of lobbying, judged the media relations category of the 2008 PRCA Awards, and chaired the judging panel for the public affairs category of the 2007 CIPR Awards.

Ian joined Public Affairs News from PR Week, where he was a journalist for six-and-a-half years, latterly as News Editor.

Prior to PR Week he gained an MA from Durham University in Urban and Regional Change in Europe. From 1998-1999 Ian spent 12 months as a journalist in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he was latterly Assistant Editor of The Sofia Echo newspaper. Ian has a BA in Economics from Durham University.
