Marcel Rommerts

Mr. Marcel Rommerts is Administrator in the European Commission in Brussels. He helped to prepare the 2011 White Paper on European transport policy and currently coordinates the elaboration of EU policy on transport research and innovation. Marcel oversaw the preparation of the Commission's Green Paper on urban mobility and Action Plan on urban mobility, and developed the CIVITAS programme for cleaner and better mobility in cities.

Marcel holds degrees in Transport Engineering and Business Studies and Engineering, and will receive a Ph.D. in Transportation Studies from University College London in 2012. He is member of the US Transportation Research Board technical committees on 'Alternative Fuels and Technology' and 'Transportation Demand Management'. He is member of the scientific committee of the China Urban Sustainable Transport Research Center.
